“We want the Cojuangco-Aquinos to immediately vacate Hacienda Luisita. We are the legitimate owners of the 4,915 has. agricultural land including those claimed by RCBC that the Cojuangco family sold through the Luisita Industrial Park Corp. (LIPCO). History can prove to the Filipino people that they have deceived, oppressed and exploited thousands of farmworkers in Hacienda Luisita for decades.” according to Felix Nacpil, Jr. Chairperson, AMBALA
Farmworkers erected a large signage as eviction notice at Brgy. Balete as defiance to the criminal case filed by the RCBC at the Tarlac Municipal Trial Court. Farmworkers occupied the land claimed by LIPCO and RCBC last July 15, 2011 as they believe they are morally and historically theirs. As retaliation, RCBC have filed “grave coercion” and “occupation of real property’ to 23 leaders and members of Ambala and ULWU to disrupt their militant assertion to land.
“RCBC and the Cojuangco-Aquinos connived with each other to criminalize agrarian cases. They want us to suffer in jail to demoralize us and our members. They want our families to undergo deep poverty and hunger. But we affirmed to ourselves, just like what our ancestors did, we will fight for our land until our last breath.” added by Nacpil.
AMBALA and AMGL said that the Cojuangco-Aquinos have filed a motion to clarify and reconsider the Supreme Court’s decision last November 22, 2011. The groups said they are planning to oppose the motion considering it is no different to what they have presented at the oral arguments. Cojuangco-Aquinos still offer ‘stocks’ to the FWBs, the 10-year moratorium of selling lands must be removed, in land valuation, the Supreme Court should not be involved, the compensation must be based at the minimum value of P1 million per hectare as what have happened in Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEx) project.
“There are thousands of reasons why the Cojuangco-Aquino must immediately vacate Hacienda Luisita. If they have thousands of planned maneuvers in mind to keep control over the vast land of hacienda, we have thousands of farmworkers and supporters to fight and struggle for genuine agrarian reform to be implemented in Hacienda Luisita.” said Nacpil.
“At present, farmworkers solidly implement the bungkalan or land cultivation inside Hacienda Luisita. Farmworkers have already strengthened their ranks against any intrusions that sow confusion of among farmworkers. The Ambala and ULWU are the legitimate organizations in Hacienda Luisita that has been recognized by the Supreme Court in land distribution and Dept. of Agrarian Reform,” according to Joseph Canlas, Chairperson, AMGL
“We call our supporters from various sectors to continuously help us with our struggle for genuine agrarian reform and to bring up our immediate call to the Cojuangco-Aquinos and RCBC to vacate Hacienda Luisita. We need your help to propagate our call, ‘Cojuangco-Aquinos and RCBC, Vacate Hacienda Luisita, Now!’, it may be through your support statements or social networking,” Nacpil added.
“Also, we are preparing for a caravan-march to commemmorate the 25th anniversary of Mendiola Massacre in Manila on Jan. 19 to 20 that until now justice has never been served to 13 martyrs,” Nacpil said.
The said activity will also highlight the farmers protest against president Aquino’s anti-farmer policies. #
