Anakpawis Partylist - Central Luzon denounced the flight of a US fighter plane, believed to be a F/A-18 Hornet, over Angeles City as witnessed by residents, about 4pm yesterday.
"I saw the plane late afternoon and sounded unlike other planes taking off and landing Clark airport," Joseph Canlas said, Anakpawis Partylist - Central Luzon regional coordinator.
The group condemned the flight and claimed it is a danger to residents and communities in case it crashes down.
"If the flight is part of the said US support on the dispute of Panatag shoal, there are no Chinese forces in Pampanga, if it is hunting down the New People's Army, then it is a direct violation of the constitution, as no foreign forces should intervene an internal conflict," Canlas said.
Anakpawis reiterated its call to abrogate the Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA) as it tramples national sovereignty and a ticket to foreign intervention. The group said that the VFA has only made the country as a launching pad for the US to push its political and economic interest in the region and a threat to the safety of the people.
"The ordinary Filipino people has not benefitted the VFA, but instead the US is pushing its interest on our natural resources and putting the country in a dangerous conflict with powerful countries such as China," Canlas said.
"We call on the people of Pampanga and Central Luzon to protest US military operations, such as the fly-over of the US fighter plane and junk the VFA," Canlas said. #
